Hue is the former capital of Vietnam during the last dynasty of the country – where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled. Hue Citadel: The ancient Citadel was the intellectual, cultural and spiritual heart of the country. Many royal tombs are now conserved in the Citadel. Built between 1804 and 1833 by Gia Long, the founder of Nguyen Dynasty, 60 000 people live now peacefully inside. This is today the only example of an imperial city in Vietnam. Knowing that over 80000 inhabitants participated in the construction of the Citadel, it demonstrates the size and the greatness of its walls and its corridors.

Hue Imperial was listed as World Heritage since 1993 by UNESCO.
