Day 1: Hanoi – Lao Cai

Travel off the beaten tracks in Northwest Vietnam. 

Board an overnight train in comfortable sleeper from Hanoi to Lao Cai where is located in Vietnam-China border. Arrival Lao Cai early in the next morning.

Day 2: Lao Cai – Sapa

Drive along a stunning mountain road from Lao Cai to Sapa. Take photos of the rice terraces that rise hundreds of meters from the valley. Explore more the local area as you trek to Sapa and to nearby villages populated by several ethnic minorities and surrounded by mist-shrouded mountains.

Day 3: Sapa – Sin Chai

Start your exciting day with trek in a jeep. Continue your deep immersion as you walk through the lush Ban Ho Valley to Thanh Phu Village, stopping off to meet the Tay ethnic minority group. Trek back to your homestay in Sin Chai Village - owned by the Red Dao group – spend time with your hosts. Learn more about their culture and traditions.

Day 4: Sin Chai – Lao Cai – Hanoi

Trek to My Son village belonging to the Xafo ethnic group, one of the smallest minority groups in Northern Vietnam. From My Son, walk to the Red Dao village of Nam Toong for lunch. Descend to Ban Ho village for a dip in the nearby La Vie waterfall. Drive back to Lao Cai and spend an overnight train return to Hanoi.

Itinerary Exclusions

Please note that, unless otherwise specifically stated in your itinerary, airfares, airport transfers, departure taxes, early/late hotel check-ins, gratuities, personal expenses and some meals are excluded from the tour price. We would be happy to provide you with a quote for air tickets, airport transfers, early check-in or any additional services you might require.

Visa

You may require a visa to enter Vietnam. Please check the list of visa excempted nationalities as below:

  • Myanmar, Brunei: 14 days
  • Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, UK: 15  days
  • Philippines: 21 days
  • Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore,Thailand: 30 days

Passport

Please ensure that you have a valid passport with at least 6 months validity remaining after your return date. You will also need at least one blank page for each of the countries you are visiting.

Travel Insurance

You will require a comprehensive travel insurance that covers you for medical costs associated with hospitalisation, emergency travel and repatriation back to your home country. We offer our customers a specially discounted insurance policy, ideally suited to the needs that a trip such as this creates. Mention it in the enquiry form and we will send you a quote to suit your needs.

Vaccinations and Malaria Prevention

You will undoubtedly require vaccinations for your visit to Asia. Please consult your doctor or a vaccination clinic for the most up-to-date advice. They will also be able to advise you of the most suitable anti-malarial medication if required. It is important that you do this well in advance of your departure date.

Booking Procedure

Only once you are completely happy with any holiday itinerary we create for you will we ask for a payment. In order that we can secure availability for your booking we would typically require a deposit of 20%.
