Saigon, beside the “must-see” sites in the colonial quarter and some museums, it also keeps the hidden charm in its suburbs. Although being affected by urbanization, district 9 has still some interesting sites to visit like Tam Da lotus pond, Hoi Son ancient Mahayana pagoda, Buu Long Theravada pagoda and “Ao Dai” museum where you will find out the hidden charms of this rich land.

We begin the day with a visit at Thi Nghe market, an ancient market of 200 years old in Saigon. You will feel a real life of Saigon where the smiles are present on slips of local people during your sidewalks of the surrounding streets. 

Transfer to district 9, stop at Tam Da lotus pond to visit and take the very nice photos with this “Vietnamese national flowers”.

Transfer to Hoi Son pagoda, an ancient pagoda built in a tranquil hill since the end of 18th century, classified as a National Treasure and a historical site in 1993 because of its architecture and many historical religious artifacts preserved. Here you can see the mixture between a Mahayana Vietnamese traditional pagoda and Khmer’s culture in its architecture.

Then transfer to visit Buu Long pagoda to visit the very nice Theravada traditional pagoda with the golden big tower that you can see from afar. Crossing these 2 visits, you will find out the difference between Mahayana Buddhism (the Great vehicle) and Theravada Buddhism (the small vehicle) and understand the principal and basic things of these 2 Buddhist branches.

Continue with the transfer to “Ao Dai” museum.

“Ao Dai”is the Vietnamese traditional costume, incarnate for the Vietnamese women’s elegance. This is not the costume that causes admiration but rather the alliance between the women, her dress and culture. Your guide will explain more about history of “Ao Dai” when you come here. Vietnamese Ao Dai won the award of "Best Traditional Costume" at the International Beauty Contest in Tokyo in 1995, and influenced fashion cities like Paris, New York, Milan,...

The museum has a huge park of 20,000 m2, created by Si Hoang artist. The tranquility of this park makes us want to stay under the shade of the mangroves and enjoy Vietnamese lunch in this museum.
